Webcam navigation

More and more flash sites offers navigation using webcam. It must be right to say that it does not work very well for practical reasons, and you will feel quite dumb – waving your head right to left… But one thing is sure, we are going to see more and more none-mouse navigation in future, and there are several studies beleieving we are going to a mouse-free world…. And of course – it is quite cool!
This is a nice example of webcam navigation: Publicis & Hal Riney (also FWA awarded)

There is also a lot of campaign sites using the webcam to interact with the user, either taking photos to implement in the campaign or using the webcam in a more interactive way. Using the same principles as for navigation there has been made several cool sites. This is quite simple, but is one of my favourites (bases on a TV ad):  Solo Super

Alternative method of installing themes on Joomla!

While working on Joomla!, I faced a problem while installing a theme. Every time I installed it with the installer in the Admin Panel, got errors each time.  So, I found an alternative method of doing that.

Here is the method:

  • I directly uploaded all the files to http://example.com/Joomla/templates
  • After that when I checked the Template Manager in Admin Panel, it showed the new theme
  • And after applying the theme, it worked perfectly for me

Flash CMS – Open source

Open souce CMS has grown to be a good (and even better) choice even for larger sites and portals (Joomla, eZ), mainly because the reality of crowd-sourcing, three heads thinks better than one… At the same time is hard to find a good CMS for flash (even a good buyable one, but there has been a rumour that Adobe Contribute will release flash integreation… Let us hope so…). Anyway does it seems like the open source movement not has “kicked-in” yet for flash developers, alltough there is one-the-way, with sites like ffiles sharing .FLA files, would be hard to find a few years ago.  Let`s hope that the open source movement also kicks-in for flash developers, making really good and solid CMS for flash.

Nice tutorial

There are a lots of crappy tutorials out there, and I have spent hours and hours searching for good ones. Sometimes I find some real goodies, this one combines flash, as3, after effects and flv in an elegant way.
